Hi,

I´ve made a CF tube, but the High Shrink Tape made a few wrinkles on it(it was the first time that i used it), so i need to apply a coat of resin to cover the wrinkles.

This resin need to cure one week at 25ºC. To apply this coat, do i have to wait it fully cure, or can i apply it right now? (it already past about 36 hours)

What kind of resin is the tube made from??

Normally if you are coating an epoxy on top of an epoxy then you can do so at the earliest when it becomes tacky.  At that stage you will get an almost perfect bond.  Once the resin has cured to a hard finish, you would need to key the surface before applying another layer of epoxy resin. This is so that a mechanical lock is achieved.

Hi Warren,

The tube is made of Very High Temperature Epoxy Resin, and because it have a long cure, my doubt is: can apply a new coat right now or should i wait a entire week until the resin cure, sand it and then apply the coat.

Hi Pedro
Like Warren said if it has some tack go for the next layer. Try pushing your finger into the surface if you leave an imbedded print and it seems somewhat soft apply your next coat. But if it feels dry and does not leave an imprint scuff before you apply your next coat.
Hope this helps.
