Hi,
I am very used to wet lay with polyester resin and epoxy resin infusions. I now need my wet lay parts to be stronger and stiffer so want to use epoxy wet lay resin. Could you tell me if the fast cure resin has a green time to trim the excess like polyester resin. I realise I may have to wait longer but I'm just not sure if it will trim the same as polyester?
Thanks in advance
Chris.

Hi Chris,
First of all I would recommend our
EL2 Epoxy Laminating Resin
would be ideal to replace polyester resins in your wet lay process. This would give you a higher performing end product when compared to basic polyester resins.
In terms of time to "green trim" the excess, this is very much a flexible window determined by a number of factors. Factors include the hardener used, be it Fast or Slow or a mix of the two, working temperature of the environment you are laminating in and finally your personal preference of how firm you want the resin to be when you trim.
As such it would be impossible to give even an approximate time. I would suggest in your first moulding with epoxy resins, that you regularly check the part during its cure to find the exact sweet spot you prefer. Then of course you will have a rough guideline time to use for future projects.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Warren,
Thats great. Just wanted to confirm that it is trimable as with polyester. I have just ordered some fast EL2 resin from you to try.
Cheers, Chris.
