Hi,
I'm thinking of trying to recreate some of these centre caps, I don't actually have an original to work from as yet but I'm hoping that on the back under the mounting plate is a relief recess of the design that I can take a mould from?
The top surface of the cap is domed so maybe a 2 part mould is necessary?
Any suggestions about how I should go about this, foreseeable problems, probable outcomes?
Once cast I plan on painting from the back in 2 stages (1. logo 2. background)

I suspect that cap is made in 3 parts, the back retaining plate, a pressed plate containing the design, and then a clear dome of plastic or resin on top. If the clear bit is soft enough to dig into,....
