I have never tried this process before but feel it's a bit too early for me to invest in a dedicated vacuum pump. I was wondering if anyone has tried drawing resin through via a vacuum bag system but with the use of an every day vacuum cleaner?
What are your thoughts and do you think it would be possible?

invest in a cheap vacuum pump. They're not that expensive. Vacuum cleaner cannot get a deep vacuum, and you need to run your vacuum for hours which will destroy your vacuum cleaner. You can buy pretty cheap hobbyist pumps these days, you will waste more money trying to use a vacuum cleaner.

As said, a vacuum cleaner just wont give a high enough vacuum.  Vacuum cleaners have a high air flow rather than high level of vacuum.  Some industrial vacuums will actually be good enough for wet lay vacuum bagging in terms of vacuum level pulled, but certainly not resin infusion.
