Hi I’m struggling to work out how to skin a dashboard bezel or similar round item . I need to know how to get it around the item and fold inside to cover the bezel. Do I cut a strip or lay a piece over and cut a hole in the middle? I’m stuck please help

Bit hard to offer a solution without seeing exactly what you are trying to do, can you post a pic? It sounds like you can't do it in one piece and will need a seam.

Hi mate sorry tried and tried to upload and for some reason I not let me, best I can explain say is a mini has a central clock , around it there’s a plastic trim ring/bezel. Most of the mini dash has these trim rings round various items from the gear stick, speedo , cup holder etc. The bezels have an inside to them aswell so I want to cover all but obviously trying to lay carbon on a circle is fine till you start to wrap around either side , would I use a strip of material, go round then fold in, or a circle of material? This is where I’m stuck, will continue to try and upload , thanks for reply

Hi Leegsy, I'm trying to get my head around what you've got without the picture too. It's tough!

Maybe we should try to get to the bottom of the picture uploading problem, then we can try to give you some good advice on your conundrum! I'll try uploading an image in a second post to this message to check the system. Could you also let me know what you're trying to upload (file format, image size) and what device/platform/OS/browser you're using?

Matt

Hi Leegsy, thanks for that. Yes, perhaps it's an iPhone issue. I'll run this past the forum technical chap and see if we can get to the bottom of it. In the meantime, yes, please just email images to technical@easycomposites.co.uk. I could even post them on here so we can discuss.
Thanks, Matt

Definitely a difficult one to do as you need to try and get it to drape over the U shape profile of the bezel.  My initial thoughts would be to use conventional fabric to drape over the outside and the curved lip, then use cut lines to get it into shape on the inside.  On its own you'd see the cut lines, so use a strip of ProFinish on the inside to make the inside neat and cover over the cut lined fabric.
