Morning , I've used GC50 before and had pre release problems , the only way I found to get over it was spraying a really dusty coat of gel coat in the mould , really dry and dusty . If applied in a normal way as to get a wet finish I would get the pre release
Hope this helps

This isn’t a pre release problem
It’s flaking off the bonnet

Sounds like it is a issue with the bond between the epoxy and the GC50.  What sort of MEKP did you use?  Also I presume you only used one coating of the gel?

Hi Warren ,
Bought all the stuff from easycomposites last week
Yes one coating of gel
Left to cure
I’ve had to strip the lot of it off today and 2k clear coat it
Def won’t use the gel coat again unless I can find out why it’s done that
Could use the airline and strip bits of it off
Also why carn’t I load pics ?

The only times I've ever experienced any de-lamination issues with GC50 is either when it or the epoxy has cured in quite cold conditions (i.e. if left overnight in a garage) or if I might have used a little too much spray tack during lay-up. This has usually been is quite localised areas, though

I often leave the coating to cure overnight, but use a 'hot box' now to maintain a decent temperature. Not certain if either of these scenarios might have affected your bond, but I've found it to be very reliable if curing of both the coating and the epoxy is done at reasonable temperatures (not below 15 degrees, at least)

You should be able to load pictures through the insert function on the post message box.

As already said it could be a temperature issue.  Most resins can be temperature sensitive.  It sounds like it had virtually zero bond to it.  Maybe it had cured too much if left too long or if too high mekp? Although generally overnight is not an issue with this system.

Round my way in the Midlands its about 10C at its coldest so if similar for you that won't have been ideal and may be a factor causing the delam.
