Dear all
Just working on CNC machined mould based on epoxy tooling boad OBO Renshape 5050, which is the similar to Easycomposites EB700. Sanding P600/1000/2000, apply 10+ layers of Frekote FMS, which is the similar to Easycomposites S120, but the surface is still not high gloss, but satin matt. Trying to polish using the cloth, but not shiny like a surface the easycomposites tutorial EB700 shows.
Don't you have any tips how polish to high gloss that?
Thanks for support

Frekote FMS is not similar to the S120 unfortunately. It is a mould sealer yes, but it is made for sealing gelcoat surfaces of microporosity. S120 and other heavy duty tool sealers like Marbocote HP2002 and Chemlease MPP2180 are effectively 'high build' tool sealers, and have a significantly higher solids content compared to regular mould sealers. If you have a look at the MSDS of each product, you would find that S120 will have a solids content in the range of 10-15%, while Frekote FMS will only have around 1-2% solids. Basically this means that you might get the same result with Frekote FMS, but you would have to do many many many more coats to get there. And to be honest, I doubt you actually would get there.

Really FMS is a different product, and would ideally be applied on top of S120. You can look at it like this: Easylease or whatever chemical release agent you are using is the equivalent of a 'top coat', Frekote FMS or similar is your 'base coat', and S120 or similar is your 'high build primer'.

Hanaldo, you right. I was convinced that's the same, but really not.
Thx.
