Hi everyone I'm from Canada and I'm trying to find a release agent similar to Easy Lease that i could purchase in North America. I would've loved to purchase Easy Lease its self but unfortunately that would cost me an arm and a leg, I found a product that's advertised as a Mold release called Frekote 700-NC and after doing a lot of research I think it would be perfect. My only concern is, I was wondering if it would work just as well for releasing a plug? Its seems to work great for releasing infused and bushed epoxy resins from molds but would it work for releasing a plug from a mold. Any information would be great!

Also I've looked into PVA and Wax but I'm trying to find a better Bang for my Buck kind of product

Edit: Sorry if my terms and everything aren't entirely accurate, I'm new to the world of composites

Normally for pattern and mould making we would recommend 2 mould release agents to give you a better chance of a good release.  So your Frekote would be fine, then back it up with a couple of layers of mould release wax on top.

Frekote will work well for a shiny surface but if you are dealing with a fresh mold that hasn't been released before you may also want to use Frekote FMS mold sealer.  Frekote is nasty stinky poisoney stuff so you'll want good gloves and a mask.

If you are releasing off a shiny polished plug surface and making your mold from gelcoated polyester or VE, then several coats of paste wax put on with lots of rubbing will give really good results.  Partall Hi-Temp is great but you have to really polish it and let it dry for a half hour between coats.  Maybe you can save the higher performance Frekote (also look into Chemlease system - available from Freeman Supply and others probably) for making the parts where a multi-pull release will help more.

Also a note on the Frekote - it has a shelf life and will not work after a few years - just a heads up from a guy that learned the hard way!
