Hi all,

Making a waney edge wine rack and wanted to use clear glass cast 3 as the base coat, allow it to cure until tacky, then two pours of glass cast 50 with pigment and finally top with cast 3 again.

Q1 - will cast 3 be ok as a base pour
Q2 - if so, do I wait for the base pour to cure before placing the wood on top?

You don't necessarily need to use GlassCast 3 for the base - typically you would use the GlassCast 50 - however you can use GlassCast 3 if you wish. 

We would recommend pouring the resin into the mould box first, then place the wood into the wet resin.  You also brush some resin onto the waney/exposed edges to seal them.  This means you will both seal the wood and get an even finish on the base.

You can then do the subsequent pours when the first layer of resin has firmed up but is still tacky.
