No such thing as a stupid question other than the one which is never asked!!

Well in that case, BigGrin when I put your method :- (170 / 100) x 5 = 8.75g   Into a calculator it shows 8.5 how did you get 8.75?

oops; yes, 8.5 - my bad!!

So my bad then...BigGrinw00tLaugh

Spot on yes; for every 100g of Silicone, you need 5g of catalyst and transposing this, you need 8.5g of catalyst for 170g of Silicone part A.

There are various ways to work this out and everyone has their own favourite, my personal preference is as follows because it uses all of the numbers at hand and also works where a ratio isn't 100:XX, (using your example):

(170 / 100) x 5 = 8.75g
but
5% in this case works just as well.

Thank you Rich thats great, felt like a bit of a dumb pleb asking this question but you managed to help me keep my dignity....w00tLaughBigGrinBigGrinBigGrinBigGrinBigGrin

Hi all,
My question is the 100:5 mixing ratio, is it whatever the weight is eg: 170g of silicone part A  X  5% of catylist
So 170g x 5% = 8.75 catalyst?
Thanks for any help.
Sean
