It is a personal preference on appearance really.  Some people will leave a gap between the mould edge and the wood so they can cast that gap in resin to give an even resin thickness around the table.  You can then sand that edge and polish it.  You will see we did similar on our neon plank table as we wanted the wood totally encapsulated in the resin (video here: How to make a Neon Resin Plank Table) In your case, you could make a temporary mould to add extra resin if you so wished.

Alternatively, brushing on a few coats of resin afterwards is again perfectly fine for a thinner resin layer. Build up the thickness by doing each coat on top of the previous once it's firm but tacky.

Ok warren. Thanks for that.
Last query then as I’ve ordered the glasscast 3 yesterday.
So if I aim for a 2mm pour on the base. Once cured, do the same for the top side.
What is the best thing to do with the edges once the top and bottom have been done?
Table is approx 30mm thick so should I just mix some resin up and brush it on or what do you suggest?

You need to be about 1.7mm or thicker for the resin to self level at its best.  Thinner than that and you tend to find the surface is not as smooth.

Thanks warren.

Really want to use as thin a pour as possible.
What’s the minimum depth I should go for?
Would it still work ok with a 1mm depth of pour?

Yes the colour will show through no problem as at that thickness the GlassCast 3 is still very clear. Using GlassCast 3 over the table top like that is a great way to get a smooth surface. The GlassCast 3 lays a lot smoother than the 50.

As that just looks dusty, a damp cloth after a quick hoover should be all that is needed to clean the surface.

The ideal tape for the edges is Flash Release Tape which you can get here:  Flash/Release Tape

Hi
Looking for a bit of advice here.
I have this project on the go at the moment.
I want to pour a clear coat of glasscast 3 to get the surface completely flat.
If I do the pour, say up to 3mm thick will I still get the blue colour coming through and will it definitely make the table completely flat?
Also, what is the best products to remove all the dust and what is the best product to tape round the table to act as a border
