+x+x+x+x+xhi guys please help me out, im trying to skin the outer casing of my headlight, it was chrome and i sanded it down to raw steel, i also used a dremel to score it all over, when i laid my 1st black base coat i could see it would run off and rather then being pure black you could still see the metal shining through, (not too obvious) but the epoxy was a bit transparent, anyway when i reached B stage of tack i tried laying the carbon but it simply would not stick, i ended up blasting it with a bit of adhesive what helped and it actually stuck down pretty good, my concern is now when its time to put the 1st coat of epoxy will it adhere to the headlight and bascoat underneath or will it just come away, if it is to come away could you please give me some advice on how to avoid this in future thank you and your help is much appreciated. would go as fast as possible so you still have that chemical bond, What kind of adhesive did you use? Worst case if it comes of you can scratch both surfaces again and try bonding it back with some 2K epoxy glue or other specific glue thanks for the reply mat, i used 151 heavy duty adhesive spray, it states on the can its ideal for carpets, tiles, crafts and hobbys (i panicked and grabbed the nearest thing i could find lol) it seems to have done the job, i have litterally finished putting on the 2nd coat as we speak, and nothings lifted or seems to be coming away only time will tell when it comes to sanding tommorow, i wont be using this adhesive again as it sprayed out like a spiders web and went everywhere lucky enough it didnt go on the carbon just lightly sprayed it onto the parts and got the carbon down hopefully it remains again thanks for your reply mat much appreciated. !!! WOW !!! i just realised im talking to THE MAT HIMSELF !!!! im well and trully honoured you took your time out to advise me, it was your video on skinning your table lamp that inspired me to do my headlight, thanks again mat !! great to hear you liked the video! Will try to do a new skinning tutorial soon as I still see a lot of people struggling sometimes. Not sure if that adhesive spray was ideal because it might still block the resin from penetrating into the fibers or your base where you are working on. Ideal you use a "composites" spray tack that will disolve in the resin ensuring a better bond. But like I said, worst case you'll have a carbonfiber shell, that should perfectly fit back on the part. Worst case you can sand that carbonfiber shell and base where you are working on and use a though glue that you could find to bond plastics to resin-made parts  hi mat, all done come out better then expected just a few tiny blemishes where the carbon overlaped and i ended up sanding through, i wanted to ask your advice im going to attemp to skin my tank, and wanted to ask is it possible to use fusion fix that you used in your video rather then a epoxy base, whats the pros n cons to either thanks mat.
