Turns out you can do it:

Faster thermoset prepreg cycles through improved heating are also being sought by Voetsch Industrietechnik GmbH in Germany. It developed an industrial microwave oven, called VHM Hephaistos, with a hexagonal chamber that is said to apply more homogeneous heating than a round chamber. This year saw its first commercial application for curing carbon-fiber/epoxy prepregs. The result was said to be faster cycles than with conventional autoclaves and greater energy efficiency because all the energy goes into the part while the chamber stays cool. More uniform heating is also said to cause less degradation of carbon fibers. Chamber sizes are up to 1.8 x 2 meters. Metal tools reportedly can be used.

I think doing this will turn the epoxy yellow.

Regardless the microwave is exciting the hydated molecules which I dont think exist in the repeat unit of the normal epoxy. Your idea is good though. Scientists are currently sintering ceramics by microwave and conventional oven showing much quicker process rates.

the problem is he didn't cured it, he heated the part...
I did some further research on curing and postcuring and time is important in that process.
sometimes you just can't rush things Smile

epoxy needs it's time to cure at different temperatures to create the best chemical links... if you heat it at a too elevated temperature
some links won't be able to be made, causing a less strong part.

Hi, I had a crazy idea last day and was wondering what some of you think about it;

-I'm working on a new researchproject at school and was wondering if in any way it could be possible to do a quicker postcure.
by adjusting a microwave in some way.
Post cure a part in the microwave, I don't think anyone tried it before? :p
would the microwave heat the part?

- other question, when you overheat carbonfiber and epoxy it will get soft and flexible, right?
  If the epoxy was heaten to much and then cooled down again, does this causes any problems strenght of a part?

I'm well aware that normaly postcuring a part is in steps by adjusting the heat on a long stretch of time and so on.
