Hi,
Wow, that is a big hood. 1.5m wide is pretty much as wide as anyone weaves carbon fibre, even at 1.5m it's quite unusual but we have plenty of material up at that width. As for making a part that's wider than 1.5m without seeing a join I'm afraid you don't really have many options. I honestly don't know anyone who would supply a 2m wide roll and there really isn't any way to join the fabric without a visible join-line so you're left with these options:
1) Put an obvious 'V' herringbone join line down the middle of the hood so that instead of trying to hide the join you make a feature of it. You achieve this by rotating one of the peices of carbon by 90 degrees so that the weave comes together to make a V down the middle of the hood. You would probably need to stiffen the fibre (by spraying it with a very fine mist of epoxy) before cutting so that it is stiff enough to allow you to cut it without fraying.
2) Fade out the carbon at the edges of the panel. This is sometimes called 'executive edges' and I personally think it looks good but it's all a matter of taste. What you do is position the material in the middle of your mould so that it just comes up a little short at each side. You then infill this with some more strips of carbon before and the put the rest of your reiforcement down. You do the infusion as normal and so when you de-mould you'll just be left some ugly joins at the edges of the panel. You then spray paint black (or whatever colour your car is or you choose) from the edges, over the join and then feather out the paint as you get past the join line. It's pretty easy to spray like this, especially if it's a low-contrast scheme (i.e. black) because you can hardly see it happen. Then, once you're happy with that, you clear lacquer over the whole lot. The end result looks great and will completely hide your join lines at the edge.
I can't really think of any other ideas except other paint finishes (like a viper stripe) to hide the join but I hope this helps,
All the best, Matt
