I’m looking to make a roughly 50cm x 20cm gently curving shape, between two smooth moulds (male & female). The lay-up would be something like 6 x 200gm carbon (or 2 X 200gm on each surface, 2 x 400gm in middle of lay-up) and I’m hoping to use resin infusion (epoxy). The tutorials I’ve seen all seem to use peel ply, ‘soric foam’ etc to aid the resin flow. I’m hoping to produce two finished sides in ‘one hit’, with the resin simply flowing through the carbon cloth. Any comments on my chances of success would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think you will struggle to get a good finish without any form of flow media. I think you are more along the lines of VARTM rather than infusion.

VARTM is a similar idea, but done with matched moulds that take into account a space for the resin to flow into, rather than using a flow media to prevent the bagging film from closing that space. I don't have any experience with the process because it is quite tricky to work out and needs to have very fine tolerances, but you may want to look into it.
