Hi!
Welcome to the forum .. from another Danish member :-) I live just north of Aarhus, and work mostly on CF parts for motorbikes. (Specials, one-offs, some skinning)
I use mostly infusion and some wet-lay with vacuum -- You will find lots of good advice here, and a lot of inspirational projects.
Good Luck!

Hejsa :-)
Thats perfect, thinking about starting with carbon infusion but also considering trying prepreg.
My plan is to buy the easy composites oven.
Dravis, do you use a carbon/kevlar combo for parts mounted in harsh areas on the bike ?. How do make the attachment part on the back off the motorcycle carbon parts? (De monterings piper på bagsiden af carbon delen hvor skrue/bolt skal gå igennem). Do you use aluminium mountings resin-glued on the back of the carbon part.
Cheers Kasper

Hi Kasper!
Yes I have used several combinations of fabric, both pure Carbon , pure kevlar and mixed fibres.
I normally plan ahead when it comes to fasteners in the parts, and infuse them in place, but I have also bonded fasteners onto parts, sometimes with reinforcing covers of wet lay CF fabric.
Unfortunately my image hosting no longer works (I do not want to pay Photobuckets extortionate prices for image hosting, so I'm looking for a new image hosting service) so right now I can not post any pictures of my work.
If you plan to use pre-preg, it is quite easy to bond in fasteners in the prepreg. It just takes a bit of planning ahead when making the moulds,
I mostly use materials from Easy Composites, they have excellent prices compared to danish suppliers and until now have been able to supply me with almost anything I have needed. I work on a strictly hobby basis, only on projects that I find interesting..

Welcome to the forum!! A mix of carbon kevlar can be a good combination on these bike parts as it adds to abrasion resistance but still has some stiffness.

Hi Warren
Yeah a mix best i think. But we will do a RL test between the different blends on one of our mx bikes. (Carbon only, kevlar only and a mix).
Was thinking about making some high-grade alu fasteners and either resin-glue them on or perhaps include them (wrapped in carbon/kevlar) in the infusion process as Dravis do.
Test will show what is best

Hi, from one more danish member. I live nearby copenhagen. I have found many good hints in this forum. during my ongoing kayak building project.
Right now I am looking for an article by Dravis, where he explained how to paint a mould with PVA, but I cant find it... I have tried to paint PVA in my mould, but i think it´s got a too napped surfaces, and as fra as i remember Dravis said that he could paint it to be very smoot and even surface, like laquer.
I think i might thinn it up, so Dravis if you see this, could you please explain what you do. Best regards Keld

Hi
Any chance that you could sent me a link to the carbon/kevlar product you would use for our mx parts?
Should it be carbon/kevlar twilled layers or layers of seperat carbon and kevlar. ?
Cheers Kasper
Ps. Think we will start with the infusion methode and then try pre pres later on (need oven)

Hi Almand,
I do not think I have written about the PVA release coating, since I do not use it at all.
But, I may have commented on it in some thread.
