I have used EC high Temp Epoxy with pigment as a paint for brake calipers -- they lasted less than a year before starting to peel off... this was on a bike, that was occasionally used as a trackday tool ..
(Had some EC High temp and pigment, and was too cheap to go buy the "caliper paint" available Whistling)

On a normal road car, i would expect that the high temp would last much longer, since they will see much less UV and not go above 180 degrees C for longer periods (unless your brake pads hang Tongue)

Give it a go, and post pictures .. w00t

I would suggest those brake calipers don't see much use ^

One of my main concerns would be the difference in CTE between the carbon and the metal, as this would very likely cause the carbon to delaminate, at least in some areas.

Hi.

Besides the issues mentioned above with the actual laminate,  I  think you should also take into consideration that calipers need to dissipate the heat and cool down pretty fast.

Although it seems to have been done for show car purposes,   Check out this link : Audi RS 6 Carbon Fiber Trimmed Brake Calipers from Carbon Works Berlin

I've not heard of skinned brake calipers before but doesn't mean it couldn't be done.  Biggest areas of concern are going to be temperature and long term durability.  I would suspect you would be looking at a high temperature resin in the vast majority oc cases.  You would be best to measure the actual temperature achieved to be on the safe side.

Long term durability might be an issue with constant temperature cycles, some nasty materials in brake pad dust, dust and debris from the road (wet and dry) etc.

Hi guys,  I'm looking to skin a set of brake calipers for a guy,  has anyone done it?  If so what resins best to use?  I'm guessing I'd need to pop them in the oven to cure them at a high temp?
Cheers
