Just last night finished building my oven with the advice of the easy composites team.

Its a VERY rough looking unit basically made from 100mm kingspan, placed on the floor and against walls to form a box with some alloy tape in an attempt to seal the joints.

Dimensions are 1.4m wide x 1.1m high x 0.8m deep. turned it on this morning after putting the moulds in for a pre use cure and it took 5-10 minutes to go from 11 deg c to 60 deg c.... when testing it holds steady to 90 deg c without the element being on constantly (had moulds in the oven so didn't want to test higher) so clearly its efficient enough.

I have a  brief list of components used, sourced from eBay and provided by Paul at easy composites.

Temperature controller (programmable PID)

Thermocouple (K-Type)

Solid State relay (>20amp)

Fan from a domestic oven

Heating element from a domestic oven.

Safety cut out switch.

Kingspan 100mm

Wiring will depend on the controller you buy and my instructions are in chinese so are not usable, I had a lot of help in this area from Paul as I had absolutely no idea what i was doing... works now though Smile

I actually made my oven as a modular design so that I can take it apart and or vary the size of the oven, I welded up a steel unit that houses the 2000w element and fan which I then bolt to the kingspan in a relevant position. My PID, solid state relay (40amp in my case so i can add another element later for larger oven sizes) and the switches that turns the oven on & another to turn the fan on are all contained in a large electrical box which sits on top of the oven.

I placed an old steel cabinet in the oven with shelves that i can place my parts on, care was taken to ensure the fan could actually circulate the air around inside

The Oven itself was built into the rear of my garage, only the top and front of the oven are not against blockwork so I cut marine ply to size and simply placed them in position, the front ply can simply be moved out the way and a section of the kingspan removed as my makeshift door.... nothing fancy at all.

As I say the priority for me was to build a modular oven rather than an easy to use nice looking bit of kit.... it looks rough, but seems to be working well.

Please bear in mind I am not an expert on this, this is the first time i have built an oven and I only spent a few hundred GBP max on this one so it could very much so be the 'blind leading the blind' lol.... take a look at the parts I used do your research and come up with your own design, ended up not being as hard as i had decided it was in my mind lol
