Hi all
Ive replaced a thin carbon visor bracket from my momo helmet, they are originally held in place with 5 rivets but I cannot use normal pop rivets to replace them.
I'm looking at the different adhesives in stock like the ET515 or VM100 for the application. Which would you recommend for bonding the thin carbon hinge to a plastic and leather substrate?
Thanks
Hanaldo

Can't use the composite specific rivets? I've used them with thin carbon and fibreglass.

If there is any doubt as to the structural integrity of the helmet then we would recommend contacting the manufacturer to be on the safe side.

To determine which adhesive is best depends entirely what the substrate plastic is composed of. Both our ET515 Rigid 15min Epoxy Adhesive and VM100 Black 10min Methacrylate Adhesive are very good adhesives for a range of plastics. However, some very inert plastics such as polypropylene and HDPE can be very hard to bond to. For an item subject to potential impact, our ET515 would offer a better flexural strength than the VM100 for many applications.

Thanks for the replies.
I was going to use sikaflex initially, but before I bought something that could be used for other jobs like my usual fave dp490 I would see what's available from ec.

The visor connects to the helmet by two bolts though the composite hinge, they aren't structural so could use virtually anything.

You could try wurth replast

Actually designed to repair plastic bumpers but it sticks like the proverbial to a blanket ! Due to the fact its designed for plastics it is always ever so slightly rubbery when its cured

Comes in various speeds, the fast one is 1.5 minutes ! We use it in the pit lane when a part HAS to be repaired and we haven't got time for 490

coming your way up the m4 about 8pm on thur can drop a tube in if you want ?

Hi Rob.  Thanks for the very kind offer, unfortunately at that time of night I'm putting the little one to bed so won't be able to escape. But I will have a look at that wurth stuff. Would you believe they don't have any structural adhesive at work? Crazy
