Everyone will have there own slant on the split so there will be a hundred ways to work it.

I don't have a problem with splits, they allow you to brake the work up and add stiffness to the mould.

I'm fairly new to this but id go 4 parts, split the top off all the way around the edge and then do three small parts, two under sides and the front underside.

may seem a lot of work etc but the lay ups will be small so quick to do and it will 100% come apart,

also if you don't get the joints perfect it will not adversely affect the finished part.

Any how good luck and post your progress.
