Group: Forum Members Posts: 338, Visits: 2K	I don't think so and I've searched for it I would like to try it, in lieu of using an automotive clear, so I contacted aoc resins in Essex, who are the UK distributor of Hawkeye products. They stock some of the Duratec branded resins, but not Sunshield. However, I spoke to one of their sales team and he said he can order a gallon of it for me on their next shipment from the US. If anyone else in the UK would like to try this product, then might be a good idea to contact aoc-resins.co.uk. If enough people do it might encourage them to make it more readily available here.

Group: Forum Members Posts: 468, Visits: 2.7K	How about closed mould techniques like RTM? If I've got the idea right it's pressurised resin flow but it does seem to need CSM or combimat type fabrics. Surely you could use one of these fabric types as a flow medium inside carbon laminate to achieve a mould finish on both sides. You would have to make two moulds though!

Group: Forum Members Posts: 2.5K, Visits: 28K	I think this is the easiest solution. I would recommend Duratec Sunshield top coat. It's UV resistant as you can tell by the name, but more importantly it is a high build coating so it builds and fills really well. It would be possible to spray directly onto your peel ply surface and achieve a perfect finish, whereas with a regular automotive coating the peel ply would be a bit too much texture and you would need to do some prep-work.

Group: Forum Members Posts: 2.5K, Visits: 28K	That's just very loosely woven fibreglass, it's not a flow media. You need something with channels that don't get closed by the vacuum. The only thing that would work is a core material with channels to accommodate resin flow.

Group: Forum Members Posts: 2.5K, Visits: 28K	Yeh you don't want to use a regular flow mesh inside the part. You would need to use an internal flow media like Soric, 3D PET core, Corecork or the likes. If you used a 3mm core, then you would only need 2 layers of 200gsm carbon on either side of it to give you your 4mm thickness. If the thing needs to be solid carbon with no core, then I would say it is out of the realms of infusion and would need to be done with pre-preg. Which is actually probably the better option anyway.

If I give a mesh in the middle of the laminate, Imeans 2mm carbon a mesh 2 mm carbon, the mesh remains forever in laminate, whatabout the strength of the laminate. It is a heavily loaded part, like a bowlimbs. I am afraid of an internal delamination. Whatdo you think?
