It didn't bead up or streak, the surface of the mould just looked wet.
I shall give it ago with putting it in on thinner and not wipe away the residue

Well a common issue with chemical release agents is over-application. Did it bead up or streak or separate at all when you wiped it on, or was it a very thin film that just made the mould surface appear wet for a brief couple of seconds before evaporating?
If it separates and beads up or streaks at all then it is way too heavy a coat and it's actually less effective and can cause a stick. Do you know if the surface felt 'greasy' at all after application?
Also, just read you wiped away the Easy-lease with another cloth. I think this will be your mistake. Don't wipe it off, just apply it very thinly, and allow it to evaporate. Don't buff it at all unless you are applying a wax over the top (and even then, only SUPER gently!). I know people say you should wipe the residue with a second cloth (hell, even the instructions for Frekote application tell you to do this), but really you shouldn't. Chemical release agents wipe off easier than you think.
I suggest trying again, and this time only apply enough Easy-lease to slightly wet the surface of the mould. If it streaks, use the same applicator cloth to spread it out until it has evaporated enough to stop streaking. Allow it to evaporate, then give it 10-15 minutes between coats. Don't buff or wipe it at all.

How heavy did you apply the Easy-lease?
Quite heavy to be honest, and only applied to a small area at a time as it evaporates quite quick

Not sure but looks like you have some print through from the heavy fiberglass cloth behind...
So might be you haven't let the gelcoat cure enough.
Second possible problem might be how the release agent was applied, did you buff it inbetween the coats?
Have you cleaned your mould with some hot soapy water after?!
a third cause might be humidity or a bad cure due to low temperatures now
The print through does look like the heavy fiberglass, i mave have applied the tooling resin to early on to the coupling coat…
I didn't buff the easy lease inbertween coats, just applied with one cloth and wiped away with another
No i haven't cleaned the moulds yet

my friend i had the same crap only different options. That caused old wax or not enough release agent. Or i think mainly that piece that you waxed not eat good wax to get out after molding that way it copy surface to your mold. that was to me when i had 0 knowledges and experience. Wish you good luck.

As said it looks like not enough release applied.
I don't do the 4 or 5 coat thing, I apply coats until you get that feel of silk, on the 4th,5th,6th coat what ever it takes you suddenly feel a difference in how the release agent feels when applied, all goes super smooth and has a feel all of its own that it didn't have before.
I shall give that ago..
How long do you wait between applying coats?
