It works ok for the sort of temperatures you see in an engine bay. What does work well is if you make a carbon sandwich laminate with a core that has good thermal insulation properties, like cork.

Hello,
my friend asks me to make a simply heat shielding for his air filters in motor bay (Nissan 370Z/Fairlady Z34) But it is carbon good material for shields? I can't find infos about it.
