SEEKING ADVICE ON CREATION MOULDS FOR PICTURE FRAMES

Group: Forum Members Posts: 5, Visits: 18	hello, i am engaged in a different kind of project; i am trying to create cast picture frames for my artwork. i like the look of silicone and rubber, and epoxy and i want to embrace these materials and leave them unpainted in their raw form. I am new to casting. I would greatly appreciate advice on which methods and materials to use to create "perfect" picture frames. I want them to look like they came out of a factory. I have a small but diverse range of tools at my disposal. I have attached here my first master ("pattern") and a wooden contain to pour mould materials into. I bought some epoxy resin at a boat supply store and I am thinking it will work to create a mould. I have some beeswax to use as a release agent. I have two general questions: Will my method work well? What is the best method of system make by easy composites that I would use to make the best moulds and castings possible? I am concerned that this method will not work because the frame is so thin and all the sides are parallel. I don't really know how i will possibly get a casting out of the mould. Any ideas here are welcome too. the frame made of acrylic, show in the photo, is about 12x16x3cm. it has a lip on the top of it to hold the glass pane in place. Hope to hear from someone. Thanks!
