hello Georg, im in Köln so not far away from you.
Im hoping to setup my own composite parts workshop soon so might be able to help you out in the future, I will be starting with small parts in prepreg then onto larger car parts using infusion, as prepreg is expensive.

Good luck with the project! Ive got a 1989 honda crx that needs some work, you dont see many jap cars over here in NRW.

Unfortunately none of the two pumps are very good for Vac-bagging or Infusion ... They simply can not produce low enough vacuum, even if the big one can move a lot of air.

To get low enough vacuum, you need to buy an Oil-based vacuum pump, like the ones from EC..

I have a very small laboratory pump, that takes ages to empty out the bags, but it does very low vacuum -0.995 Bar ..

It struggles a bit to keep up when infusing larger parts, but it works fine.

Hey thanks,
the shop supplys 3 different types of pumps.

First of all I would only do vac bagging.

But it would be nice to have a pumpe which is good for both processes.

Any good the pumps:

The pump might be ok for vac bagging but it is absolutely insufficient for infusion.
Search around on this forum, there are several threads about suitable vacuum pumps.

While it might be inappropriate to say this (since this forum is hosted by EC), there are several suppliers in Germany for hobbyists.

Well,

how to start first, my name is Georg and Im living next to Düsseldorf , Western Germany.
Im driving a `99 Nissan 200sx. And here my journey just begins.

Im considering building or laminating parts for my car. Such as front splitter, oil cooler ducting, brake ducting, air vents and so on.

Im just looking where to get stuff for starting.

I found a vacuum pump in Germany, and like to know if I can probably use it:
http://www.top-messtechnik.com/jtlshop/index.php?a=627&lang=eng

I want to start with vacuum pressing process. Not right at the beginning with infusion.

I m going to post pictures of my parts right after Im getting all stuff here.

Kind regards Georg
