Just use a standard acrylic clear coat. If you intend to spray it yourself then just be aware that spraying any chemicals poses poses a health risk and you should wear proper PPE. Spraying acrylic doesn't require anything serious though, just ask your local paint shop what they would recommend.

If anyone knows of any alternatives to my predicament, please let me know Smile

Urethane clear coats also scare me because of the toxins. Are there other clear coats that anyone can suggest? Anything with a deep gloss and uv protection without having to worry putting myself in danger.

hm.....may have wrote this topic too soon. Noticed that the technical questions section of GC50 says that this can't be used on top of epoxy when skinning:

Can I use GC50 as a top coat for skinning parts in carbon fibre?

No. The reason is that GC50 is only compatible with epoxy when epoxy is sticking to it, not when sticking to epoxy. Because of how it's designed it actually makes quite a poor bond when uncured GC50 is applied to cured epoxy whereas uncured epoxy bonds incredibly well to cured GC50.

Autobody paint shops want to charge me an arm and a leg to have parts coated in urethane clear coat. Is using something like GC50 (https://www.easycomposites.co.uk/clearpol-iso-npg-clear-polyester-gelcoat) going to be comparable to urethane clear coats?

For reference, I'm skinning parts with 2x2 carbon fiber and need UV protection (which the GC50 says it can handle).
