I was asked to take over a contract from another company who have had a few issues with making these covers... I have made two so far and have 5 more to make.. The problem was a mould which for some reason had stress cracks and I was not told about this problem I only found out through another company who were asked to do this job. So after 2 I got the customer to invest in a new mould.
Here are my first attempts..
Made from pre-preg with the second one being made with a new pre-preg that was not available yet. I had a sample from the supplier from the original development roll... It works perfectly out of autoclave... I will let you know more when it has been launched fully and has officially been put on their website...
This is from the original mould which had to be replaced. It has the stress cracks and ripples in there so this is not perfect.. As you can see the flange is still on there and this is out of the mould with no post work done or polishing.
I sent one of the two too a supplier who coated one and tinted it red to show some options for the covers...
Here is the new mould.Hopefully the new parts will look amazing and the customer will finally be happy..
