I need to create a product in composite which has a similar strength to 6mm stainless steel. It's the two steel "plates" in the image attached

Any ideas on the type of layup best to achieve that? It'll be infusion. I appreciate about laying the weave in opposing directions per layer etc, it's more the weight of layup to use as in number of layers of 600 weight cloth. I'll need to put some aramid in it as well I think.

Ok, here is my version of lay up :

~~top layer~~
~~back layer~~
I think it will do the job, the thickness : 0.28+0.33+0.47+0.9+1.8+0.9 = 4,68mm
I counted soric 1,8mm as it will colapse under vaccum. It will weight about 2,5 kg/m^2 of cured part
Maybe it is not the cheapest lay up, maybe it is too much for your purpose, but it would be stiff as hell.
Can you tell me what is the whole device you attach to steering bar?
