Hi Guys,
Only recently found this site.
Im looking for some advice on how to repair this front splitter?
Problems started with the splitter from day one.
This is how it arrived to me (100% Grp).
The front section is double skinned with a 12-15mm void. When I received it I was assured it was more than strong enough and to keep the weight down the void was not filled with anything.
I knew it was never going to work, it had far too much flex and there was no way it could support 100kg + loads. Anyway I listened to the manufacturer and trailered the car to the ring.
On the track, as soon as I reached 80mph the whole front of the car started to vibrate violently, so at track side I decided to cut the front lip off and seal with gaffa tape.
The problem went away instantly.
I have since filled the void with very light pine wood and resin, I also had some kevlar fabric and decided to put that on the underbelly to stiffen that up, sadly the kevlar sheet was not on a roll and had many creases, but its not major for me as it will be painted over.
My question to everyone here is, what do I need and how do I cover and seal the duck lip section where its been rejoined.
I can see the carbon fabric not wanting to curve round the lip end :-/
Any help would be much appreciated.
Andrew
