Subject: Require soft Kevlar liner which protect motorcycle tyres from puncture.

Dear Sir,

I have seen that your company has expertise in composites material knowledge. I want your guidance in this regard.

Let me first brief my aim and requirements.

I am running a welfare trust with the aim to bring comfort & ease in poor people’s daily life.

As you are aware that motorcycle is one of the major transportation in the third world / developing countries for many poor and lower class families.
Motorcyclist facing problem of tyre puncture on frequently basis due to dirtiness in streets and road in third world countries. The cost of repair punctures are so much burden which is also going up day by day.

Furthermore, many times tube also go fully unusable due to many puncture at once and families go on shortage of funds and stuck in road with kids.

I want a solution in form of soft pad which if put in between tyre and tube, it can stop to cross any sharp stuff like nail, pin etc. and prevent motorcycle tyre to puncture.

Please guide me that is what material sheet could protect motorcycle from puncture if it insert / place between tire and tube. Would it be soft sheet / liner of 0.5mm Carbon Fiber, Kevlar, Twaron or else in which the nail / sharp stuff can’t able to pass. What material use in knife or bullet protected jacket?

Please also guide that from where I could able to get it in lowest price or you could provide.

I will need it in 2 inches tape size strip which can easily inserted between motorcycle tube and tyre.

So the problem is, at the kind of thicknesses you are looking at, no fibre is going to provide any puncture resistance. Kevlar is used in ballistic vests, but they start at 2mm thick for stab protection and go up to 6mm thick for protection from small calibre bullets and even thicker from there depending on what they are being designed to stop. A 0.5mm strip of Kevlar you will still be able to puncture very easily, especially at the speeds and types of impact a motorbike tyre will experience. It wouldn't provide anywhere near the resistance that even the rubber of the tyre would provide. This is going to be true of all fibre types; Kevlar, Twaron, Innegra, Zylon etc. They all need layers to work, and you just aren't going to get enough protection at the thicknesses you could fit inside the tyre.

Noble idea, but this just isn't how you make tyres puncture resistant.

Here's a first hand example, and this is just a bicycle so no where near the weight and speed the a motorcycle would experience punctures.
