I have a slab of elm ive leveled but I kept the burls dip as i love it.
However i am using epifanes varnish wich is a phenolic alcloyd resin anyway.
And ive read on people doing epoxy and varnish 3/3 on boats

I want to level the burl clear epoxy and then varnish. Im wondering tips/possibility/method  and if anyones done this before .
Im running a test today on scrap

Check out strip built canoe videos. Youll want to follow their instructions MINUS applying a fiberglass skin.

It’s as easy as sealing the wood with a few layers of epoxy, sanding, then multiple layers of varnish. The reason I recommend watching the canoe videos is that their varnish finishing tips are valuable. Guillemot Kayaks on YouTube is likely your best resource for finishing varnish over epoxy.
