I would like to get a polisher for polishing my pattern to a nice high gloss finish, using a 14mm spindle backing plate.  The ones I see online are (I think) quite large, heavy and noisy (I guess that is the nature of this bit of kit), does anyone have any recommendations?

My favorite polisher is a variable speed angle grinder with a 8” wool bonnet. Had no issues getting my plugs/molds to a mirror finish.

Thanks for your reply Jason. The noise of angle grinders kind of puts me off them too.  I know it may sound a bit daft, but it's the noise these things make that just grates with me.

On a side note, what are wool bonnets like with cutting compounds as well as polishes?  Are there various grades like there are with pads for doing different stages?
