I am trying to use the black resin crack filling technique for filling my
reclaimed oak. I was to obtain a matte black finish (probably sanding will do matte part). Wood will be finished with wax only.

I need to know which products to order to do this:
- resin, needs to have very low viscosity in order to be able to enter and settle into these cracks, also a very low shrinkage factor.
- dye / pigment to use - as black as possible
- quantity somewhere between 0.8-1.5kg is what I expect to need
- slow curing, I have lots of cracks to fill and I don't want to miss them, minimum 30min, preferable 1h if possible
- wood planks are up to 5cm deep, in case it matters.
- price wise, i don't want to spend too much. initially I found the West System advertised on YouTube but apparently is quite expensilbe.

The resin we would recommend for small cracks up to around 10mm in thickness is our GlassCast 10 Clear Epoxy Casting Resin combined with a black pigment to make it black in colour. You can get up to 45min pot life with this resin system so should have plenty of time to pour and allow it to soak in.

Thanks! Sadly all GlassCast 10 and 50 appear to be out-of-stock.

Even 0.8kg of filler is a massive amount of filler. How deep are the cracks? Do they affect the structural integrity of the wood or are they purely cosmetic?

This is not the end or even the beginning of the end...

I have a similar question.  I have an old wooden table made from a roundel of yew which has a crack in it which is 7cm deep by 25cm long and an average of 1cm in width.  Which resin would be best and how much do I need?

Again for your crack you would want the GlassCast 10.  Assuming your measurements are accurate, a 500g pack of the resin should be plenty.
