Well it has been sometime since I have been on the forum chopping it  up with you guy's  or should I say reading the wealth of information you all have been sharing. When free time allows I have been working day and night at getting my cbr 900rr up and running which has kept me from fabricating some CF parts for it....well time has drawn near to prepare to do so..

I have a engine cover that has some scratches on it and would like to know some things....I am going to use some quick dry spot putty/glazing to cover the imperfections, after it dries, I am going to sand it smooth ready for the mold making process.

My question is this, should I apply a couple of coasts of clear over the entire part to form a protective barrier and seal the repaired area to insure that it does not separate, come off, transfer to the final mold after I de-mold it....

Thanks fam, for you input in advance

P.S.

Just read some other info. on the site I am going to brush the clear coat on not spray it, as I have read the rattle canning has some chemicals that don't work really well with the release agent, or should I use epoxy resin to coat the entire part?

Personally I'd spray it with Durabuild paint, this can be sprayed on thick (or even painted on) and can then be polished to a high gloss finish and moulded off.
