Group: Forum Members Posts: 3, Visits: 42	Hi all! I have a new project and wanted some input on the planning...There are 4 clips (2 front and 2 back) that are required for the part to fit correctly. The top pic is the surface that I care about looking nice, but is there anyway to make this one piece?

After I lay the fabric in the finished mold I thought about adding two small pieces of pvc foam to make the little nubs in the bottom of the second pic, and then put another layer of material over them

Group: Forum Members Posts: 688, Visits: 5.4K	I have done similar parts in the past. Assuming this a cosmetic exercise and not a weight saving one this what I have done. 1- Skin the part in Carbon, works but messy. 2- Cover the "seen" face of the part in 1mm Wax Sheet. Take a mould from that. You now have a mould that is 1mm larger than the part. Lay up 2 layers of 200grm Carbon. You now have a Carbon Skin that can be trimmed to fit the part perfectly. Then simply bond that to the part. There is no need to skin the "lugs" as these wont be seen when the part is fitted. With a little experience you can use the natural "returns" on the edge of the original part to get the new skin to "snap" over the original part meaning that little or no bonding is required. I do complete car interior and exterior "trim" kits using this method. Once you have the moulds you can reproduce the "skins" quickly and cheaply for resale as in my case. Hope that makes sense.
