Hi all, I'm sure this has been covered somewhere in the forum but I kept getting sidetracked while looking and was taken ages.

I have completed my uni mould and really happy with the results. 1 small repair needed. I am planning eventulally producing my final part from cf using infusion but for now want to make one using polyester gellcoat and reinforced with csm. Mainly due to cost with Christmas coming. That will be one in the new year.

Can I use chemical release agent multiple coats then the polyester gellcoat and reinforcement it will be 2x 200g csm then 3x 300g csm. The reason I ask is that someone told me you could only use 2 layers of 200g csm for the first pull and that chemical release agent wouldn't be good for the first one.

Bah, whoever told you that sounds like an old-school boat builder - people tend to stick to their methods, which is fine, but technology has come such a long way since it was necessary to break a new mould in with PVA and specific layups. 

Definitely nothing wrong with using chemical release agent and your planned 2x200g + 3x300g.
