Hello All,
I have been coming on here for a week or two now looking to learn all I can about making composite parts. As a design engineer (mechanical) I have designed a few parts in the past working in racing that went on to be manufactured from cf but I have never gotten my hands dirty in the process. Therefore, it goes without saying that I have a lot of experimenting and learning to do!
My goal currently is to setup shop in my garage, where I hope to start out making cosmetic/accessory components for a specific line of motorcycles where I know there is a need. I am also interested in creating carbon versions of car parts for the enthusiasts out there. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like if you do good work and pick the right things to manufacture, the composites business is a good and comparatively low cost option. I am of course comparing to other forms of manufacturing that require big expensive equipment like machining and sheet metal/welding businesses, both of which I have considered.
the EC tutorial videos have really helped me to get a grasp of what's involved for various processes, and of course led me to ask a lot of questions about which process and equipment would be best to start out with (prepreg, infusion, pump absolute vacuum, etc.) . I look forward to posting questions on here for the many gurus out there!

Welcome to the forums !
Looking forward to seeing you're progress.
I only do infusions mainly because I don't have access to a large high temp oven and a spare cooler to store the prepreg in.
Cheers,
David Stevens
