I have a polo boat and the resin on the underside has flaked quite a bit.    I've watched the composite kayak repair video and have a decent understanding of how to do patch repairs.  But in this instance it looks like so much of the resin is flaking off that I need to sand off a lot (most) of the resin on the underside of the boat, so I'm wondering three things....

1. Which resin should I use (I've used the rapid repair/quick setting one before but looks like a slower hardening would be easier to work with when doing large areas ?)

2. Can I use release film on such large areas ? Or how best to get a smooth finish ?

3. Is one coat sufficient ?

tks!

As said above you need to sand back and start with fresh.  Release film is ok if you can get it flat.  Otherwise its build it up as FLD says and sand it flat and polish.
