Hi there, could anyone please offer a little advice regarding the best product to use for filling shakes etc in wood . 

PS - The filled woods application will be as kitchen worktops and table tops , just incase it effects things

The problem is the resin will soak into the wood and any air trapped in the wood will come out as bubbles, both of which will make the resin level drop. Also with the short pot life, the bubbles often don't have time to come out fully.

If you want a clear resin you could try our Waterclear Polyester Casting Resin. You would need to use some Solution MW Wax Gelcoat Additive to prevent the surface becoming tacky and you would also need to make sure the wood is fully dry.  You can control the pot life of this resin much better so you will have time to run a heat gun gently over the work to drive out bubbles.

Both resins accept pigments no problem. You can also use our Translucent Tinting Pigments in the polyester resin to get a range of different tinted combinations.
