Hi,

I would like to know how much resin the fiberglass absorbs.
For example if i have 200gr/sq mt twill glassfiber cloth what is the volume of resin that it will absorbs?
How many grams?

Generally, does fiberglass absorbs more resin than carbonfiber? For the same weight of clothes (i.e 200gr twill) which will be the heavier product after the resin infusion? and if you know does the difference will be countable? or it does not matter?

And also what is the better type of resin that i can use. Epoxy, polyester?

Generally the fibre/resin ratio is about 50/50. It's not about how much the fabric absorbs, it's how much you put in with it so it can be resin rich or dry, by putting more or less resin in.

Depending on application, epoxy is the superior resin

As Aj said, you're generally looking for a 50/50 ratio. So if you've got 1sqm of 200gsm WOVEN fibreglass or carbon fibre (doesn't matter which) then you'll need about 200 grams of resin. If you're using CSM then you need about 2.5x the resin for the fabric weight.

The weight savings in carbon fibre come from the fact that it is stiffer than fibreglass, so you need less layers to achieve the same stiffness.
