Hi Phil,
The carbon fibre skinning process uses approximately 300g of basecoat and 800-900g of epoxy coating resin for every square metre of 200g carbon that you use; therefore if you've 1m x 3m (3sqm) to skin then you'll need 900g of basecoat (buy a 1kg pack) and 2.7kg (buy 3kgs).
This allows for about 3 quite thick layers of clear resin. You'll also find that because of the shape of what you're skinning, even though you buy 3sqm of carbon you'll actually only use maybe 2.5m sqm on parts, the rest will be offcut and so won't use up the top coat and basecoat.
I hope this helps.
Matt
