I want to attach this to a small hook and was thinking a knot would work with many other materials but maybe impossible or inadvisable with this product. If possible, what knot would you recommend?

I wouldnt recommend a knot as it would likely snap.

It is quite a small part to bond to, but bonding would be your best solution. You may need to fabricate a bonding surface on the hook so you can bond over a decent length of rod.
