Dear Sirs,

can you recommend a resin which can be used to attach a thermocouple (PTFE insulated or fibreglass insulated) to the inside of a brass bolt, which can withstand temperatures up to 250degC? I'm looking for a very small amount, so ideally a small bottle should be enough if it's available of course.

Regards,
Tom

Hi,

PTFE can not be bonded by ordinary means, only special glues for PTFE will bond it properly, you are much better off securing the thermocouple mechanically inside the brass bolt

If there is some way you can secure the temperature probe mechanically, you can mix  bonding epoxy with aluminum powder.

It will loose its ultimate strenght at the high temperatures, and will deteriorate slowly with time exposed to high temp, but it will conduct the heat, and "fill the gap"

Glass-fibre insulated thermocouples will be bonded, but again, try to secure them mechanically.
