You can infuse a single layer of fabric. However you will need to be careful removing the peel ply and infusion stack to avoid damaging the fabric.  It can help to use a perforated release film between the peel ply and mesh to aid removal.

If I was making a cover for something (using resin infusion) where there was no strength needed and wanted to keep it as thin as possible, would it acceptable to just use single ply carbon fibre? Or would the minimum be 2 ply?
