Bonding two parts of Carbon Fiber without spoiling the aesthetics

A solution is to bond the seam, then hand laminate some carbon fibre tape over the inside of the join to give you the strength. Group: Forum Members Posts: 74, Visits: 1.8K	I did tests using Plexus MA 310 (Methacrylate) with black pigment, the problem is after drying I could not remove the excess, especially in parts with geometries with more limited access internally. When making the reinforcement with CF internally, this hinders me because it changes the internal dimension of the part. I need to learn how to make pipes with complex geometries in another way without being in two parts.

Group: Forum Members Posts: 460, Visits: 5.2K	If you are looking at making pipes in one piece then you need to be looking at mandrels or soluble tooling that you wrap the material around, braided socks are especially good at this process and a lot quicker than trying to apply single tows or pieces of material. I used to make a lot of fuel and coolant carbon hoses for F1, the tools were 3d printed and then wrapped in prepreg then placed into a composite mould so both internal and external faces were tooled, expensive but it had the results we required.
