Those devices use a transmitter that emits a certain frequency, so you put it somewhere inside the cavity and listen from the outside for where the frequency leaks out. They are made for finding leaks in places like garages or your car, so you're talking big leaks that don't make any noise of their own. 

If you were to use one in an infusion scenario, you would need to place the transmitter inside the bag, where it is likely it would get filled with resin, even if you could place it away from the part. It is an electronic device with a casing, so think plastic box with a big void inside. Voids draw resin to them.
