  If the surface is suitably prepared (sanded and degreased) there is no reason why cellulose lacquer shouldn't work to the best of my knowledge. I would imagine though that 2k acrylic and epoxy urethane systems will probably provide a more durable finish. 
  I would recommend testing the paint on a small area first to see how good the adhesion is before committing to a full component, to test this simply allow the coat to cure fully and then attempt to lift and peel the paint with a sharp knife blade, if it doesn't lift at all then you should be good to finish the component this way.
