Hi,
I finally got around to creating a mould for 1/10 scale touring car, so I thought I would share with you helpful people
I had a brand new body shell left over from me racing days.
This new body shell was the perfect candidate to take a mould from, and I also had quite a bit of Easy Composites
Uni Mould
System left over from a
previous project
So I had all the necessary goodies to create a 1/10 body shell mould!
And some spare time to make a mould and video with some royalty free music, good times
Easy Leased the table 2 coats
Easy Leased the body shell 3 coats
Uni-Mould Tooling Gelcoat 3 medium coats
Uni-Mould Coupling Coat (
100g Chopped Strand Mat
)
Uni-Mould Tooling Resin (
450g Chopped Strand Mat
)
Lots of gloves and plastic cups
Here is a video showing the making of the mould.

Thanks
Matthieu,
First product was a success, bar a few issues mainly caused by the infusion stalling due to not enough infusion mesh between input/output infusion lines.
Everyday is a school day
Stack is 3 x Carbon Twaron 200g 2/2 Twill
http://easycomposites.co.uk/products/carbon-fibre-cloth-fabric/carbon-black-twaron-hybrid-1m.aspx
Also the product was very hard to pull from the mould mainly due to the design and curves of the car.
Fresh from the mould.
Looking good
Bit of bridging on the left corner also infusion stalled and left some bubbles, nothing that cannot be filled with resin and sanded back.
Small bubble on front wheel arch, and some sanding ...
First fitment on car, now for a lot of fettling.
Next
Fit body shell to car cut out wheel arches.
Sandback in preperation for clear coat
2K clear coat
Sandback
Build spolier and apply stickers
2K clear coat
Polish
Take "The Destroyer" for a race at
West London RC
Very impressed with how compliant the material was in the corners no cuts! the material just stacked up in the corners with some gentle persuasion

Nice, shame about the little bit of bridging
I did a 1/5th touring car body some years back. I found running the feed spiral a full 360 around the flange and the vac outlet in the middle of the roof worked best. Some breather cloth under the vac connector stops print through onto the seen side.

Fixed up the imperfection in the rear light then applied the first 2K clear coat, been a while since I done any spraying ...
Next flatten clear coat then drill holes for body posts, make rear spoiler and then apply stickers, then clear coat
Next time I will find a better place to take the picture, carbon overload.
