Hallo ;-)
I am making Robot arms in composite and have until now Normal closed cell foam in 10 mm as core.
But my parts has shape as a tube and is made at one time, not to parts glued together, the part is a free form shape with many round shapes, so now I want to use a core material there is more easy to form and better for infusion.
Here is a link to se the parts

The Black parts is Carbon but alittle dusty :-)
But what is best ?
A)
Layer 1 : 600g Carbon
Layer 2 : Soric SF 3mm
Layer 3 : 600g Carbon
Layer 4 : Soric SF 3mm
Layer 5 : 600g Carbon
Or
B)
Layer 1 : 600g Carbon
Layer 2 : 600g Carbon
Layer 3 : 3D CORE PET 10mm
Layer 4 : 600g Carbon
Layer 5 : 600g Carbon

Take your pick really. I wasn't quite sure what part you're looking at making, but Soric is definitely the way to go if you've got a complex shape. The PET core can flex into shapes, but not so easy. It's more flexible rather than drape-able, compared to the Soric which is more like a heavy cloth. To be honest, I was left less than impressed with the thicker PET cores, but I also don't want to conclude that they are as poor as my crude testing found.
Looking at your lay-ups, I think the PET core will be the better solution in terms of weight.
