As long as the cup fits you will be fine.

Plan your resin feed and distribution to help avoid wastage.  Also leave a gap between the part and the vacuum feed mesh.  It helps slow down resin flow to the catchpot.

Thanks for the responses guys, I was after a more repeatable, process-friendly solution though. 

You don't have to use a cup if they don't fit, could also just line it with some vacuum bag or plastic bag or cling film, or anything like that...

They are an off the shelf paper cup which we source from various suppliers.  You should be able to find a range of different sized cups from any catering supplier.
